Worst games of 08
July 28, 2009
Via Wired is a list of the Top 10 Most Disappointing Video Games of 2008. I agree with most of the games on that list except for Mirror’s Edge, which I thought was a much too innovative and visually amazing game to deserve the 6th spot. I completely agree about Dead Space and Too Human, though. But life is not all gaming, back to installing my audi a8 parts.
Thom Yorke on New Moon sndtrk
July 24, 2009
I love Thom Yorke and I love Radiohead but the news that the lead singer wrote a new song for the new Twilight movie soundtrack is kind of odd. Twilight is terrible, there’s no discussion, so why would Thom submit a song for the movie’s soundtrack? To the fans it seems like a money grabbing move, but we know that Thom and the band don’t need the money. Does he actually like the Twilight movies/books? I hope not. I’m going to go take out my anger by installing my new nissan body kits.

the National
July 17, 2009
If you hate new music and are looking for something interesting in the rock and roll world then you should check out The National. They are a band from New York that have been kicking up some sand lately with their austere, wordy music. I would recommend you start with “Alligator” a really great album with catchy tunes and literate lyrics about urban couples and life in the city. It’s better than cavier, so go check them out now.
How to clean your records
July 13, 2009
Ok, here are some steps you can take:
1) Get some Windex and soft paper towels. Don’t fuck around on this; get the name brand stuff. I like Viva paper towels. If you have a lot of greasy fingerprints or mold in the grooves, you can substitute Lysol spray for the Windex.
2) Lay your record on the inner sleeve, or some similar surface where it won’t be scratched.
3) Spray some Windex on the paper towel (not on the record), and rub around the record in the direction of the grooves (not across the grooves). Wait for the Windex to dry completely, and do the other side.
4) Play the record all the way through once. You’ll see a lot more dirt brought to the surface. Clean it once more.
5) If you still have a lot of noise, you can put the needle at the end of the record, and run it backwards manually with your finger. A bunch of crud will come to the surface. Clean it once more.
But enough of that, it’s summer, time to head outside and play with my rc helicopters and install my HID headlights.
The Wire
July 10, 2009
It’s been called one of the best TV shows of all time, and I find it hard to call that hyperbole. The Wire is definitely one of the most uncompromising television shows ever to air. The writers knew exactly where they wanted the stories, seasons, and the show as a whole to go, and they didn’t change anything nor were they forced to change the show to please viewership or gain ratings. The Wire was never cancelled but like a good novel came to logical conclusion after 5 seasons. This is a reminder that if you haven’t watched it yet put it in your Netflix queue or splurge and pickup the full show box set. For real, forget that money you were gonna spend on one of those Acura car spoilers, paintball gun packages, or rc drift cars.

Tank scooter
July 7, 2009
So this week I ended up purchasing a cheap scooter to ride to work. I got it for a low price and hopefully it will last me for a little while. I’m not expecting too much out of it since it is my first scooter and all. Hopefully I will be able to learn a lot from it and one day upgrade to one of the top tier brands like Vespa, Honda or Lambretta. So far everything is in working order, from the headlights, to the starter, etc. One thing that I just learned about it, too is that you don’t legally need to ride with a motorcycle helemet, the law says you only need glasses while riding. My friend wants to put a performance chip in it to give it some extra kick, but I’m hesitant. I am scared to mess with it too much or it might stop working alltogether. It might be nice to put one of those HID light kits on it, though, that would definitely come in handy.
Hidden Valley
July 6, 2009
If you’re looking for a camp site this summer you should definitely consider Hidden Calley Campground which is only about an hour south of the cities. My friends and I have gone there the past couple years over the 4th of July weekend and usually once again sometime laster in the summer. We’ve always had a good experiences with the staff, who never turn away any campers no matter how busy it is. The past couple years they allowed us to set up our site in the middle of a playground field since all the others spots were filled up. The site actually turned out to be better than the other sites since we weren’t cramped next to strangers and had more room to set up our tents and play games. The site also rents tubes and buses campers a few miles up the road to float down the river, which is really fun with a big group of friends. This year we got rained on for half the 4 hour trip down the river but it otherwise it was fun. Overall a good time there were a couple people flying some RC airplanes around the site which was fun to watch. I may have even seen some people sailing RC boats on the river, too. Played some good games of cards at night with clay poker chips and some new friends. One more thing to remember is that they don’t allow motorcycles on the campsite so leave your cycle and motorcycle helmets at home or you’ll have to check them at the office.
